Freeten 3mg is indicated for the treatment of:

• Anxiety
• Panic attacks

✔️ How does Freten 3mg Tablet work?

Bromazepam binds to the GABA-A receptor producing a conformational change and potentiating its inhibitory effects. Other neurotransmitters are not influenced.

✔️ Side Effects:

• Common: Fatigue, drowsiness, muscle weakness, numbed muscle, reduced alertness, confusion, headache, ataxia. These symptoms are more common at the start of therapy and usually subside with continued use.
• Anterograde amnesia may occur at therapeutic doses.

✔️ Indications:

Bromazepam is a benzodiazepine with properties similar to diazepam, used to treat anxiety alone or associated with insomnia.

✔️ Pharmacology

• Bromazepam is a potent psychotropic agent. At lower doses, it reduces tension and anxiety selectively, while at higher doses, it exhibits sedative and muscle-relaxant properties.
• Bromazepam binds to the GABA-A receptor, inducing a conformational change that potentiates its inhibitory effects without influencing other neurotransmitters.

✔️ Dosage & Administration

• Standard Dosage: The average outpatient dose is 1.5-3 mg up to three times daily. Start with low doses and gradually increase to the optimal level.
• Severe Cases (especially in hospital): 6-12 mg 2 or 3 times daily. Treatment should generally not exceed 8-12 weeks. Extensions beyond this period require a re-evaluation of the patient's status.
• Elderly and Debilitated Patients: Require lower doses due to impaired hepatic function.
• Children: Typically not indicated. If deemed necessary, adjust the dose according to low body weight (approximately 0.1-0.3 mg/kg body weight).

Administration

• Oral Administration: Tablets should be taken orally.
• Note: Always follow the physician's advice for dosage and administration.

• CYP450 inhibitors (e.g., azole antifungals, macrolides, HIV protease inhibitors, Ca channel blockers): May enhance activity
• Disulfiram or cimetidine: Elevated plasma levels
• Barbiturates, sedatives, anesthetics, anxiolytics, hypnotics, phenothiazines, other antipsychotics, skeletal muscle relaxants: Additive CNS depressant effects
• Atropine, antihistamines, and antidepressants: May potentiate anticholinergic effects
• Narcotic analgesics: Increased psychic drug dependence

✔️ Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to bromazepam
• Severe respiratory insufficiency
• Severe hepatic insufficiency
• Sleep apnea syndrome

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• The safety of bromazepam during pregnancy is not established.
• As bromazepam is excreted in breast milk, it should be avoided during lactation.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Chronic pulmonary insufficiency
• Elderly or debilitated patients
• Muscle weakness
• Impaired liver or kidney function
• Drowsiness may affect skilled tasks
• Monitor cardio-respiratory function when used for deep sedation
• Patients with personality disorders or organic brain changes
• Pregnancy and lactation
• History of alcohol or drug addiction due to the risk of dependence
• Respiratory depression and hypotension with parenteral administration; this route should only be used when facilities for reversing respiratory depression are available.
